SomewhereInCanada.com - all-Canadian fun & frugality!

Choose Your Destination:

SomewhereInCanada was born in July of 2000. But, its creators have been on the internet and involved with computers for years. They felt it was about time to actually make a contribution to the net.

Vince and ShannonThe specific focus of the site is simply "FOR CANADIANS". It doesn't necessarily mean that all the information, pages or anything here is only found in Canada, made by Canadians or about Canada - it just means that anything written here is geared towards the Canadian populace.

That might seem like a very broad approach, and it is, especially considering that Canadians aren't so different than people in the rest of the world. But then again, there must be a reason why we choose to live in/move to and remain in Canada and live as Canadians. More practically, there are certain things that we want to offer here that will act as a resource to Canadians.

Our current sections include:

  • Contests & Sweepstakes: A directory of contests & sweepstakes, plus some great resources including article, hints & tips, books, etc.
  • Freebies: Lots of free stuff.
  • Shopping Online: A directory of Canadian & Canadian-friendly stores. Includes information on if the store is in Canada or elsewhere, store currency, if free shipping is offered, any deals offered, etc.
  • Charity: A small charity section including charitable organizations and how to help out different organizations for free.
  • The Playground: This section includes free games, free daily tarot card readings, jokes, funny pictures, eCards, Shuffle the Web interface to visit various websites and other fun stuff!
  • Essential Links: Links we feel are important or essential for Canadians who are online. The categories included are: Crisis, Dating, Education, Employment, Financial, Government, Health, Language, Lottery, Media (includes Radio, Newspapers & Magazines), Movie Listings, News, Search for People, Travel and Weather.
  • My 2 cents: Vince gets crazy about small thing. This forum allows him to vent some of his frustrations. Feel free to vent right along with him!

Most importantly, a lot of time and effort is placed in ensuring that everything on this site is available to Canadians. The only exception to this rule is where certain items might be limited only in that they are available based on the province you live - especially in the case of Quebec, where laws are place that prohibit a number of offers from being valid.

The site has been a growing project, and we've been thrilled at its progress. We really enjoy the creative process and hope to continue to grow along with our readers. Welcome to our site, and if you have any suggestions, ideas or feedback, please let do let us know.

It's all about the cats!

We love cats and we are not afraid to admit it. If we could afford it we would rescue many more stays and give them a loving home.

Emotion
Emotion is our oldest (1992). She has always been the nervous type, which gives her the airs of being aloof. But since the introduction of many other cats in her life she has learned to purr. She had even come to be friends with Puddertat!

Puddertat
Pud died too young. (May 1997 - 16 Apr 2005) She was a stray until her third year. She hid continuously for the first three months my mother had her. Then one day she just decided to come out and be as loyal and friendly as any dog. Never forgotten.
Augustus
Augustus Eves was rescued from starvation by Puddertat. She alerted us to his presence while at her post doing her squirrel patrol. He was just weeks old and literally a bag of bones. I am thankful we never found the owners of 'Gusto'. Ever since the arrival of Ash and Coal, he has grown from a rambunctious kitten into a mature cat.

Molly
'Molly E. Cule' came as a package with our house. She is prim and proper. Except when trying to give her any medicine! Then she has the strength of 100 tiny cats! Initially from a single cat household, she never was comfortable with the other cats. When she is bold enough, she will storm up to other cats like a gorilla with her chest all puffed out. Unfortunately her stubby arms preclude her from protecting herself. She now lives downstairs, comfortably, with my mother in law.
Ashley Grey
Ashley Grey is the twin brother of Coal Grey. It is hard to believe that these two were never adopted for the first year of their lives. Ashley is the more energetic of the two and he could play until he passed out. He keeps the house clear of flys. He is more monkey than cat. He can climb wire fences and catch birds in mid air.

Coal Grey
Coal Grey is the twin brother of Ashley Grey. Coal is the lover boy of the house. He is very similar to Puddertat in temperament and size (20 lbs). He is a gentle giant who just wants to be friends with everyone. Sadly he seems to be the odd boy out during playtime. A bundle of hugs!
Facebook
Sowen
Sowan is our newest member. She is another stray who is a real sweetheart. We were worried the boys would terrorize tiny Sowen, as they do the other girls. She just ignores the boys and actually tires them out during play time. Coal is in love with her because she plays with him. If you look closely she looks like Oscar the Grouch with tiger tail colorings.
Facebook

The twins, Ash and Coal, are really robot cats with laser eyes!
